Trick or Treat Blog Hop Fun!

Oh Halloween...what fun you can be!  Costumes, candy and a day full of excitement!  I know that my classroom is looking forward to it! This is one of my favorite tricks when it comes to making crafts with students.  The one thing that always is a struggle for them is cutting out the eyes.  Cutting in a circle doesn't come easy for them.  It is either too small or in little pieces.  So the easiest way to solve the problem is using hole punchers for the eyes!  Between my teacher friends and myself we have circle hole punchers in all sizes!  You can buy the whole punchers at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.  

I quickly put together a face to show you how it would look.  

Give it a try next time you need to cut eyes.  You will fall in love with the hole punchers!

My students favorite station is the write the room station.  I place visors, pointers, glasses and any other fun item I can find in there.  The students grab a paper and a clipboard and go on a hunt to find their words around the room.  Click on the Write the room picture to grab your Halloween treat!  This pack is only free for this week...so hurry on over!

Apples, Apples and more Apples!

This past week we learned about apples and did fun activities with the apples that the students brought in for the week.  They started by sorting and graphing the color of apples.

At the end of the week the students help make applesauce in the classroom.  I use an apple slicer to make the process go faster.  They love it!  It is the best invention for making applesauce or even apple pies. I also decided to bring in my magic bullet so that the applesauce wouldn't be so chunky for the students.

The students always enjoy helping out.

And the end result...applesauce and apple juice.  We did make a graph but I forgot to take a picture of it.

100 Days of School

Hm...so I blogged the first day of school and then went right into the 100th day. Sometime the days just get away from you. We'll we celebrated the 100th day of school a couple of weeks ago and the kids always have so much fun!  We made the 100 day people from Deanna Jump but I forgot to take a pic. They turned out so cute!  We also wrote about Five Things that we've learned in 100 Days of School.

We made these adorable crowns that the students loved wearing all day!

The students also enjoyed making their 100 days snack mix with 10 different snacks.  I have laminated the mats and use them each year.  The circles were made from a circle hole punch.

To end the fun filled day each student went home with a little certificate.  I have such a great friend across the hall that came up with the cute idea.
